Energy Saving Lights Direct does exactly what is says on the tin.

We buy the energy saving lights direct from the factory in large quantities. This enables us to sell direct to you at low prices.

Energy saving lights do not have to cost the earth!

We only sell top quality products . Our lights not only work well but look good too. We do not sell the early types that look ugly, and flicker . Early energy saving lights have given the industry a bad name. Todays lights look very similar to the high energy products they replace. All our lights are “A” energy rated and conform the new EC regulation guidelines.

Previously the brightness of a light bulb was gauged by the number of watts of power it consumed. A common complaint about energy saving bulbs was that the stated equivalent wattage of a normal filament light bulb was over optimistic. A rule of thumb was to multiply the energy saving wattage by 5 to give the equivalent light output of a filament light bulb.

Under new EC rules which came in to force in September 2010 what matters is the Lumen output which is the actual light output. Under these more accurate rules a rule of thumb for the output is 4 times the energy saving watts not 5 as previously but really to get an accurate idea of the light output the lumen output must be the main consideration. For example two similar looking bulbs rated at 7 watts could have different Lumen outputs depending on how efficient they are.

In future LUMENS will be the byword. Instead of asking for a 60 watt bulb you will ask for a 750 Lumens bulb.

Below is a table of the  EC rated equivalents for CFL ( compact florescent lamps). Different values apply for LED bulbs. [Lumens rounded up to nearest 10 ]

15 watts  = 125 LUMEN

25 watts = 230 LUMEN

40 watts = 440 LUMEN

60 watts = 750 LUMEN

75 watts = 970 LUMEN

100 watts = 1400 LUMEN
